How to Win

The goal of Monsters at War is to be the first Leader to gain 5 Totems. Leaders gain Totems by winning battles.

What's a Battle?

A battle is what a round of Monsters at War is known as. In a battle, players will attempt to send all their Monsters in their Wave 1 (hand) to the table. Once they have done that they may then send monsters from their Wave 2 and Wave 3 to the table. First to get rid of all their monsters is the winner.

Weird World of Monsters

In the beginning, there was only one planet floating in space – Earth. However, a rip in the universe caused Earth to split into two separate worlds, each existing within its own universe. These two worlds remained connected by the Multidimensional pathway. Eventually, this rip in the multiverse created a final split, resulting in copies of Earth and its original version.

These two new planets, named Taroon and Martilka, are also in their own universes. While they are slightly different from our own Earth, they can sometimes be glimpsed from our world. Over time, humans have referred to them as Heaven and Hell, not realising what they have truly seen. The original planet that Earth split from in the first place is a very unknown place, the planet has somehow discovered a way to hide itself from glimpses finding their way through the Multidimensional Pathway.

The Multidimensional pathway that connects all these planets throughout the multiverse intersects between all of the planets. As a result, a new and unique world was born, drawing bits and pieces from all universes that Martila, Taroon and Earth exist in. All these bits that have been drawn into the rift began giving rise to monstrous life. Sometimes our world can see into this world, and its inhabitants have become known as Monsters or the things of nightmares.

Welcome to the Weird World of Monsters, a place where the boundaries of reality are blurred, and anything is possible.

Hidden Power Cards

Do you want to take the chance to gain a massive boost or a massive downfall. That is exactly what the Hidden Power cards do.

Totem Cards

Totem cards are what a player gains when they win the game.

Can you play multiple cards for your "Wave 2" if they are the same card?

Yes. If you have for example 2 Ruck Runners, you can play both the pile at the same time. Even you can not beat the card that is on top of the pile, you can still play both the cards. This can be a strategy to place those identical smaller cards from your Wave 2 into your Wave 1. Making it easier to player them.

No. You may never look at your Wave 3 cards, unless anouther card allows you or you have just flipped the wave 3 card to the pile.
